Hello! My name is Adam Shedal and I would like to share a story with you. It is the story of 4 milestones in my walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, how He saved me, and brought me to where I am today.
February 2, 1999, is the greatest day of my life because this was the day I realized that I was a sinner deserving of Hell and turned in faith to Jesus Christ. I remember going to my Mom and saying, “Mom, I need to get saved”. At first, she did not take me seriously but I repeated this statement again a little while later “Mom, I need to get saved”. This time she realized I was serious and promised that as soon as my Dad came home from work they would talk to me about the Bible and salvation.
Dad came home from work early that day and both my parents sat down with me in the living room. They spent nearly an hour explaining what the Bible taught about salvation. They wanted to be sure I properly understood salvation especially since I was so young. At the conclusion of that long conversation, I prayed and received Jesus as my Savior. There is no doubt in my mind that my name is written in the Book of Life in Heaven and that I will spend eternity with my Savior, Jesus Christ.
August 2, 2010, marks the second milestone in my spiritual walk with the Lord. As a teenager, I began to think about what I wanted to do with my life. God had been laying a heavy burden on my heart to serve Him in full-time ministry but for the longest time I casually brushed it off telling myself that I had plenty of time to decide what I wanted to do with my life. However, that burden only became greater. In August, my family visited a church that was holding evangelistic services. The evangelist preached a powerful message about Living the Christian Life. God impressed upon my heart that night that the only way I could live the Christian life was to surrender to His leading. I went forward at the invitation and dedicated my life to full-time Christian service.
In the days that followed, I began studying maps of Pennsylvania and talking about the need for every town to have its own Bible-believing, Gospel-preaching church. My Mom pointed out to me that God might be calling me into a church planting ministry. Ever since that conversation, I have known that God has wanted me to serve Him by starting new churches. The Lord led me to prepare for this ministry at Ambassador Baptist College in Lattimore, NC, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Biblical Studies with a Pastoral Ministry emphasis. The Lord also allowed me to gain valuable ministry experience by serving at my local church in NC and by completing three summer pastoral internships/apprenticeships. The ministries I have served under are . . .
- Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, NC – Pastor Jim Ogle
- Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Denver, PA – Pastor Keith Sweitzer
- Calvary Baptist Church in Elkins Park, PA – Pastor Jim Martin
- Community Baptist Church in Coopersburg, PA – Pastor David Smith
September 16, 2017, marks another very important milestone because this was the day I married my Sweetheart, Rebekah. Rebekah grew up in a godly home in Lancaster County. She too received the Lord Jesus as her Savior at a young age. As Rebekah became an adult, she served the Lord by teaching Sunday School classes, counseling at a teen camp, and starting a website for young women. After our marriage, we moved to Quakertown, PA and began serving in the ministries of Community Baptist Church. We served in the music ministry, children’s GROW Club, children’s choir, Vacation Bible Time, youth mission trips, and occasional itinerant preaching.
Our family truly became complete when our son Daniel was born in January of 2020. Daniel was diagnosed with a heart defect and underwent 3 heart surgeries in three years. Even though dealing with a complex heart issue is spiritually difficult, God answered many prayers and has carried us through every step of the way. These experiences drew us closer to the Lord and prepared us for our current ministry of church planting. We are currently expecting our second child.
September 20, 2020, was the next milestone in my spiritual walk because it was the first official service of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. For 10 years now, I have been burdened with the need of starting new Bible-believing, Gospel-preaching churches. Now that dream is a reality!
I have 3 goals for my ministry in Orwigsburg, PA. They are (1) to preach the truth of the Word of God, (2) to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with every person, (3) and build godly family relationships. These ministries are not exclusive to church members only. I not only want to pastor Amazing Grace Baptist Church but I also want to pastor this community. If you ever have any spiritual needs, I will be more than happy to help. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
