The Bible

We believe the Canon of Scripture containing sixty-six books in the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God (II Timothy 3:16-17). These Scriptures, being the God-breathed divine revelation to man, are inerrant, infallible, and are therefore man’s final and only authority for all faith and practice (Psalm 19, Psalm 119:128). We further believe that God has preserved His words in the Hebrew Masoretic text and in the Greek Received Text and that His preserved words are accurately translated into the English Language in the King James Version (Deuteronomy 8:3, Psalm 12:6-7,Matthew 5:18).

God

We believe the Godhead exists eternally as a trinity, three co-equal persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (I John 5:7). God the Father is the Head of the Trinity. He is a Spirit and has a personality with a mind, will, and emotions (John 4:24). We believe God’s key character quality is holiness and that it is through His holiness that all other character qualities are exemplified (I Peter 1:15-16). God loves sinners to such an extent that He gave His only Son to die on the cross so that man can be redeemed and live eternally with Him (John 3:16, I John 4:7-10).

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the second member of the trinity, and the Savior of the world. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary to live a sinless life and to die as a sinless sacrifice (Luke 1:34-35). He was 100% man and 100% God. Jesus literally died on the cross, was buried, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven three day later (I Corinthians 15:1-4). His shed blood paid the sin debt for all mankind finishing God’s redemptive plan and finalizing justification for believers (Romans 4:25-5:1, I John 2:1-2). He currently intercedes on behalf of the saints but will one day return to the earth to set up His Millennial Kingdom (Hebrews 7:24-25, Revelation 19:11-21).

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity. He is a real, divine Person co-equal with the Father and the Son. His ministry to the world is to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment and thereby drawing them to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior (John 16:7-11). His ministry to the saints is one of indwelling, filling, sealing, comforting, convicting, teaching, and empowering that they may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Titus 3:5, Galatians 5:15-26).

Satan

We believe Satan is a real being, a fallen angel, the perpetrator of sin, and the god of this world (Isaiah 14:12-14, Ezekiel 28:12-19,). He tries to deceive and destroy the lives of men using pride and lust (I John 2:15-17, I Peter 5:8). Though he and his demons war against God, they are defeated foes and destined for eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:7-10). To resist Satan, believers must stand in the face of his attack (Ephesians 6:10-18)

Salvation

We believe the plan of salvation was finished with Christ’s work on the cross. His shed blood is the propitiation for the sins of men and justifies believers in the sight of God (I Corinthians 15:1-4, I John 2:1-2). The sinner’s responsibility is to come to God by grace, through faith in Christ alone, repenting of unbelief, and receive the free gift of eternal life (Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 17:30-31 Romans 10:9-17). This choice guarantees the sinner eternal salvation, a home in heaven, and saves him from eternal damnation in a real, literal Hell (Luke 16). We further believe that all believers are eternally secure in the hands of Almighty God and that they should live with the assurance of their own salvation (John 10:28-29, I John 5:13).

The Church

We believe the church is a local, visible, called-out assembly of born-again, baptized believers who are organized to be edified in the faith, glorify God, and to fulfill the Great Commission (I Corinthians 12:12-17). We further believe the Lord Jesus started His church during His earthly ministry (Matthew 16:18). Every local church is its own autonomous body of Christ independent from ecumenical groups and hierarchies. Believers assemble together for worship, prayer, preaching, teaching, fellowship, edification, discipline, and to actively engage in carrying out the Great Commission (Acts 2:41-47, Ephesians 4:4-6,11-16). The church has two ordinances which are baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper (Romans 6:3-4 I Corinthians 11:20-34, Galatians 3:26-27). The local church has two offices which are pastor and deacon (I Timothy 3).

The Future

We believe the next event on God’s prophetic timetable is the pre-tribulation rapture of the saints (I Thessalonians 4:13-17). The rapture will set off a chain of events including seven years of tribulation, the pre-millennial return of Jesus as King, and the earthly one thousand year Millennial Kingdom. Following the Kingdom, Satan will stage one final rebellion against God which will fail. God will then destroy this earth with fire and creation a New Heaven and a New Earth where believers will worship the Lord God for all eternity (Zechariah 14:4-21, II Peter 3:10-13, Revelation 20:1-6). All believers will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ and all unbelievers will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment (II Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 20:11-15).

Separation

We believe the saved are called to a life a daily transformation and sanctification away from the things of the world and towards the things of God (Romans 12:1-2). This means abstaining from all appearance of evil including immorality (of any kind), impurity, immodesty, ungodly music, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, drugs, doctrinal compromise, disobedient brethren, and apostasy (I Corinthians 6:14-20, I Thessalonians 5:17, II Thessalonians 3:14-15 I John 2:15-17). The sanctified life is dedicated to pleasing the Lord through godly fear, holy living, obedience to His Word and is made possible by walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, and bearing the fruit of the Spirit (Ecclesiastes 12:13, Galatians 5:11-26, I Peter 1:15-16, I John 5:2-3).

Baptist Convictions

We believe Baptists and baptistic Churches have upheld Bible doctrine, beliefs, and convictions down through the centuries. The following eight distinctives best describe our position as an independent Baptist Church.

  • Bible is the final and only authority – the whole counsel of God’s Word is the essential guide for every believer’s rule of faith and practice (I Peter 1:23-25, II Peter 1:16-21).
  • Autonomy of the local church – every church is free to govern itself under the authority of Jesus Christ and His Word. It is free from the requirements and restrictions of a hierarchy (Acts 15, I Peter 5:2).
  • Priesthood of every believer – every believer has direct access to God without the aid of a priest or intercessor save Jesus Christ (I Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 4:14-16).
  • Two Ordinances – the church is to Baptize new believers by immersion after salvation and regularly observe Lord’s Supper in obedience to God (Acts 8:36-39, I Corinthians 11:23-26)
  • Individual Soul Liberty – every believer has the liberty and responsibility to come to God for salvation and to interpret Scripture according to the Spirit’s illumination in his life (Acts 5:28-29, Romans 14:3-5).
  • Saved/Baptized Church Membership – salvation and baptism are necessary to be members of a New Testament Church (Acts 2:41-47, Romans 6:3-4).
  • Two Offices – Pastor and Deacon are the only officers in the New Testament Church (Philippians 1:1, I Timothy 3:1-14).
  • Separation: Ecclesiastically and Personally – local churches are to operate free from government intervention and believers are to lead sanctified lives free from the sinful world (Acts 5:29, Romans 13:1-6, Romans 12:1-2, I John 2:15-17).
